2 빌 2:5: 너희 안에 이 마음을 품으라 곧 그리스도 예 수의 마음이니 6: 그는 근본 하나님의 본체시나 하나님과 동등됨을 취할 것으로 여기지 아니하시고 7: 오히려 자기를 비어 종의 형체를 가져 사람들과 같 이 되었고 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

3 8: 사람의 모양으로 나타나셨으매 자기를 낮추시고 죽기까지 복종하셨으니 곧 십자 가에 죽으심이라 9: 이러므로 하나님이 그를 지극히 높여 모 든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름을 주사 Phil 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross! Phil 2:9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

4 빌 2:10: 하늘에 있는 자들과 땅에 있는 자들과 땅 아래 있는 자들로 모든 무릎을 예수의 이름에 꿇 게 하시고 11: 모든 입으로 예수 그리스도를 주라 시인하여 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하셨느니라 Phil 2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

6 1. 겸손의 의미 Meaning of humility 1) 겸손은 자신을 아는 것이다. Humility is to know who we are. 요 13:1 유월절 전에 예수께서 자기가 세상을 떠나 아버지께 로 돌아가실 때가 이른 줄 아시고 세상에 있는 자기 사람들을 사랑하시되 끝까지 사랑하시니라 3: 저녁 먹는 중 예수는 아버지께서 모든 것을 자기 손에 맡 기신 것과 또 자기가 하나님께로부터 오셨다가 하나님께로 돌아가실 것을 아시고 Jn 13:1 It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;

7 겸손은 자신이 어디에서 왔으며, 무엇을 해야 하는 지, 그리고 어 디로 갈 것인가를 아는 것이다. Humility is for us to know where came from, what should do, and where should go to.

8 2) 겸손은 하나님이 자신에게 맡겨주신 일을 하는 것이다. Humility is to do the works that was given by God. 4: (1) 저녁 잡수시던 자리에서 일어나 (2) 겉옷을 벗고 수건을 가져다가 (3) 허리에 두르시고 5: 이에 (4) 대야에 물을 담아 (5) 제자들의 발을 씻기시고 (6) 그 두르신 수건으로 씻기기를 시작 하여 Jn 13:4 so he (1) got up from the meal, (2) took off his outer clothing, and (3) wrapped a towel around his waist. Jn 13:5 After that, (4) he poured water into a basin and (5) began to wash his disciples' feet, (6) drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

9 마태복음 21:5 시온 딸에게 이르기를 네 왕이 네게 임하나니 그는 겸손하여 나귀, 곧 멍에 메는 짐승의 새끼를 탔도다 하라 하였느니라. Mt 21:5 Say to the Daughter of Zion, See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. - 예수님의 겸손은 멍에 메는 짐승의 새끼, 나귀새끼 를 타셨다. 곧 겸손은 하나님의 말씀을 순종하며, 이루는 것이 다. Humility is to obey the Word of God. 하나님 없이는 결코 자신이 누구이며, 자신의 사명 을 알지도 이룰 수도 없기 때문에, 겸손 그 자체가 불 가능한 것이다. Without knowing God, there is no true humility.

10 2. 겸손의 방법 Method of Humility 1) 자신을 비운다. Making nothing 빌 2:5: 너희 안에 이 마음을 품으라 곧 그리스도 예수의 마음이니 6: 그는 근본 하나님의 본체시나 하나님과 동등됨 을 취할 것으로 여기지 아니하시고 7: 오히려 자기를 비어 종의 형체를 가져 사람들 과 같이 되었고 Phil 2:5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Phil 2:6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, Phil 2:7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

11 겸손은 자기비하가 아니라 자기희생이다. Humility is not self- humiliation, but self-sacrifice.

12 빌립보서 2:3 아무 일에든지 다툼이나 허영으 로 하지 말고 오직 겸손한 마음으로 각각 자기 보다 남을 낫게 여기고 Phil 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. - 자기보다 남을 낫게 여기는 겸손이 남을 위해 자기희생의 겸손을 가능케 한다. Humility that consider others better than myself can make self-sacrifice for others.

13 2) 종의 형체를 가진다. Taking the very nature of a servant 7: 오히려 자기를 비어 종의 형체를 가져 사람들 과 같이 되었고 Phil 2:7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. - 겸손은 자신을 비우고 난 후에 종의 형체 로 채우는 것이다. Humility is to fill as the very nature of a servant after making nothing.

14 갈라디아서 5:13 형제들아 너희가 자유를 위하여 부르심을 입었으나 그러나 그 자유 로 육체의 기회를 삼지 말고 오직 사랑으로 서로 종 노릇 하라 Gal 5:13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. 겸손은 사랑으로 서로 종노릇하는 자 유를 누리는 것이다. Humility is to be free to serve one another in love.

15 3) 자신의 십자가를 진다. Taking own cross 8: 사람의 모양으로 나타나셨으매 자기를 낮추시 고 죽기까지 복종하셨으니 곧 십자가에 죽으심이 라 Phil 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross! 마태복음 20:28 인자가 온 것은 섬김을 받으려 함이 아니라 도리어 섬기려 하고 자기 목숨을 많 은 사람의 대속물로 주려 함이니라 Mt 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

16 누가복음 9:23 또 무리에게 이르시되 아무든지 나를 따 라오려거든 자기를 부인하 고 날마다 제 십자가를 지고 나를 좇을 것이니라. Lk 9:23 Then he said to them all: If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. - 겸손은 자신의 십 자가를 지는 것이다. Humility is to carry our own cross daily.

17 3. 겸손의 결과 Outcomes of Humility 1) 높은 위치와 큰 이름을 주신다. God gives high place and big name. 9: 이러므로 하나님이 그를 지극히 높여 모 든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름을 주사 Phil 2:9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

18 베드로전서 5:5 젊은 자들아 이와 같이 장로들에 게 순복하고 다 서로 겸손으로 허리를 동이라 하 나님이 교만한 자를 대적하시되 겸손한 자들에게 는 은혜를 주시느니라 1Pe 5:5 Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. 은혜는 받을 자격이 없는 데 받는 것이다. - God gives grace to the humble. What is grace? Grace is to receive something that we don't deserve to receive.

19 2) 강한 권세를 주신다. God gives authority. 10: 하늘에 있는 자들과 땅에 있는 자 들과 땅 아래 있는 자들로 모든 무릎을 예수의 이름에 꿇게 하시고 Phil 2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

20 시편 10:17 여호와여 주는 겸손한 자의 소원을 들으셨으니 저희 마음을 예비하시며 귀를 기울여 들으시고 Ps 10:17 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, - 하나님은 겸손한 자의 기도를 응답하신다. God answers prayer of the humble. 시편 147:6 여호와께서 겸손한 자는 붙드시고 악인은 땅에 엎드러뜨리시는도다 Ps 147:6 The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. - 하나님은 겸손한 자를 도와주신다. God sustains the humble.

21 시편 149:4 여호와께서는 자기 백성을 기 뻐하시며 겸손한 자를 구원으로 아름답게 하심이로다 Ps 149:4 For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. - 하나님은 겸손한 자에게 자부심 을 주신다. God makes the humble to be proud.

22 3) 하나님께 영광을 돌린다. Glorifying God 11: 모든 입으로 예수 그리스도를 주라 시인하여 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌 리게 하셨느니라 Phil 2:11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

23 우리는 언제 하나님께 영광을 돌릴 수 있을까요 ? When can we glorify God? 하나님의 풍성한 복을 받을 때, 우리는 하나님께 영광을 돌린다. When we receive abundant blessing of God, we can give glory to God. 잠언 18:12 사람의 마음의 교만은 멸망의 선봉이요 겸손 은 존귀의 앞잡이니라 Pr 18:12 Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor. 잠언 29:23 사람이 교만하면 낮아지게 되겠고 마음이 겸 손하면 영예를 얻으리라 Pr 29:23 A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.

24 잠언 22:4 겸손과 여호와를 경외함의 보응 은 재물과 영광과 생명이니라 Pr 22:4 Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life. - 겸손을 통하여 재물과 영예 ( 영광 ), 생 명을 얻을 때, 우리는 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 된다 When we receive wealth and honor and life, we can give glory to God.

25 결론 Conclusion 이사야 57:15 지존 무상하며 영원히 거하며 거룩하다 이 름하는 자가 이같이 말씀하시되 내가 높고 거룩한 곳에 거 하며 또한 통회하고 마음이 겸손한 자와 함께 거하나니 이 는 겸손한 자의 영을 소성케 하며 통회하는 자의 마음을 소성케 하려 함이라 Isa 57:15 For this is what the high and lofty One says he who lives forever, whose name is holy: I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. 하나님은 겸손한 자를 소생케 하시기 위해 겸손한 자와 함께 하십니다. God lives with the humble to revive them. 하나님은 부흥을 주시기 위해 겸손한 교회와 함께 하십니다. God lives with the humble church to give revival.

26 미가 6:8 사람아 주께서 선한 것이 무 엇임을 네게 보이셨나니 여호와께서 네게 구하시는 것이 오직 공의를 행하 며 인자를 사랑하며 겸손히 네 하나님 과 함께 행하는 것이 아니냐 Mic 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? (1) To act justly and (2) to love mercy and (3) to walk humbly with your God.
