4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 4

5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- 5 그기쁘신뜻대로우 리를예정하사예수그리스도로말미암아자기의아들들이되게하셨으니 5 御意のままにイエス・キリストに由り愛をもて己が子となさんことを定め給へり。

6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 6

21 7 In him we have redemption 7
through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace

22 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

23 9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 9

10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfilment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

25 11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

26 12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

30 Philippians 3:7-11 7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 7

31 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ

32 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

33 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

34 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

35 The king said to his attendants, “Leave us. ” And they all left
The king said to his attendants, “Leave us!” And they all left. 20 Ehud then approached him while he was sitting alone in the upper room of his palace and said, “I have a message from God for you.” As the king rose from his seat,

36 Christ-Centred Hope People’s false impression of the future meant they made foolish choices in the present. God tells us some important and exciting things about the future. God repeatedly states that a time is coming when everything will be perfect for us. The essence of this hope is that we will live with God in a new, perfect creation. Eternal life in a perfect new world is not centred on us!

37 We need to see that our hope of eternal life in a perfect new world is actually completely centred on Jesus. Majestic spiritual blessings are rolled out one after the other. One particular thing is worth noting – namely the centrality of Christ.

38 1. Through Christ Redemption happened for us because of Jesus. He bought our freedom. What do we need to be set free from? SIN – our failure to give God the honour, obedience and respect he deserves. We can’t break ourselves free from both the power and penalty of sin. What did it cost to set us free from sin? It could not have been higher – it was the sacrifice of God’s one and only Son.

39 Through Jesus’ death we have been forgiven, redeemed, pardoned, set free and adopted into God’s family. 2. In Christ It is not simply that we follow, or are saved or redeemed by Christ, or submit to or are inspired by Christ. The phrase ‘in Christ’ highlights the profound reality that Jesus died as our replacement and our representative. He doesn’t just die for us. He died as us.

40 On account of this, God establishes a deep union between Christ.
It is our union with Christ that secures our future hope in the new creation, the new heavens and the new earth. 3. United under Christ It is God’s plan for the fullness of time to unite all things in Christ. People everywhere will be united in acknowledging and honouring Jesus as Lord. God’s endgame is for Jesus Christ to be revered and worshipped.

41 God the Father’s highest purpose is to give Christ pre-eminence in everything.
We are looking forward to a new creation that is created for, ruled over by, and united under, Christ. This truth demands a revolution in the way we think. My thinking and behaviour is no longer about what I want to do – it’s about what Jesus wants me to do. His priority list becomes our priority list. It is seriously ALL about Jesus.

42 We can see the entire reason for our hope is so that Christ might be glorified.
Jesus Christ is at the heart of both how we have hope and why we have hope. We get an inkling of how gloriously good this is from some of the names and titles given to Jesus. What an incredible blessing and privilege to be a citizen of God’s Kingdom! These words remind us that we have a hope of exquisite safety, serenity, beauty and rest in Jesus
