The Definition of Mission
Donald McGavran in his article, “What is Mission?” describes the biblical definition of mission as, … carrying the gospel across cultural boundaries to those who owe no allegiance to Jesus Christ, and encouraging them to accept Him as Lord and Saviour and to become responsible members of His church, working, as the Holy Spirit leads, at both evangelism and justice, at making God’s will done on earth as it is done in heaven. For McGavran, the definition of mission is not only proclaiming the Gospel verbally, it also includes other things; for example, education, literacy programs, agriculture, medicine, presence, dialogue, proclamation, social action, etc., in order to help communicate the gospel across linguistic and cultural barriers to unbelievers.(논문P4.)

I. 선교의 내용 (The Contents of Mission)
선교의 내용은 예수그리스도의 오심과 그의 사역과 삶 (가르치시고, 전파하시고, 고치시고), 십자가의 죽으심과 부활하심, 그리고 승천하심 마지막으로 다시 오심을 가르쳐야 합니다.

From morning till evening he explained and declared to them the kingdom of God and tried to convince them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets. 행28:31 하나님의 나라를 전파하며 주 예수 그리스도에 관한 모든 것을 담대하게 거침없이 가르치더라 [개역개정] [Acts28:31]Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.

II. 선교의 자원 (The Source of Mission)
1) 성령님의 능력 행 1:4-5, “예루살렘을 떠나지말고, 내게 들은바 아버지의 약속하신 것을 기다리라, 요한은 물로 세례를 베풀었으나 너희는 몇날이 못되어 성령으로 세례를 받으리라.” 행1:8 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라 [개역개정] Acts1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." 구원의 길= 오직 예수 요14:6 예수께서 이르시되 내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라 [개역개정] John14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. [NIV] 행4:12 다른 이로써는 구원을 받을 수 없나니 천하 사람 중에 구원을 받을 만한 다른 이름을 우리에게 주신 일이 없음이라 하였더라 [개역개정]

III. 선교의 책임 (The Responsibility of Mission)
행전 1:7-8, “오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고, 예루살렘과 유대와 사마리아와 땅끝까지 이르러 나의 증인이 되리라.” 막16:15 또 이르시되 너희는 온 천하에 다니며 만민에게 복음을 전파하라 [개역개정] Mark16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. [NIV]

결론: 교회의 존재 이유 1. 교회의 존재이유는 선교에 있습니다
2.선교의 내용은 예수 그리스도요, 하나님의 나라에 대해 선포해야 합니다. 3. 선교의 자원은 성령님의 능력이요 예수님의 이름입니다. 4. 선교의 책임은 믿는 그리스도인 모두에게 있습니다. 고전9:16 내가 복음을 전할지라도 자랑할 것이 없음은 내가 부득불 할 일이라 만일 복음을 전하지 아니하면 내게 화가 있을 것이로다 [개역개정] 1Cor.9:16 Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach.
