Choose one political party around the world (Korea included) and present it with PPT (10 slides maximum (strictly enforced!!!) 2인 1조 발표 (매주 월요일 수업 후반부에 발표) 각 10분 발표 발표내용은 About PIG, PIE, and PO

매주 수요일 수업 후반부 강의계획서 뒷면의 날짜와 주제 확인 팀 프로젝트이며 각 팀은 4명으로 구성 15 minutes Presentation + 15 minutes Debates

10 Attendance and Participation
I will check the attendance every class (10%). 2번 지각은 1번 결석으로 계산됨 5번 이상 지각인 경우 출석 grade는 최대 5% 이상 받을 수 없음 I will also never fail to note and record participation for grades. (5%)  수업 참여와 토론 참여는 필수  참여가 전혀 없는 경우 참여점수 0% out of 5%

11 Electronic Device Class Policy
Students using laptop computers MUST sit in the back of the classroom to avoid disturbing fellow students. Of course, use of cellphones and texting are never permitted in class. 전화 혹은 문자 등은 절대 허용 안됨 Any violation of these policies may result in a zero for your attendance grade. 적발시 출석 점수 0%

12 Class Manner Policy Once you are in class, you will NOT get out of the
classroom until the class is over. 일단 수업이 시작되면 마칠 때까지 출입이 금지됨 Except for the “exceptional cases” you have to explain to me right away… In particular, during the class presentations, students are NOT allowed to get out. Violating this rule should result in some penalty.

13 A couple of more things …
Read, Read, Read ! It is imperative that you do all the readings. Show me your work ! Create a good report and present it well! Be active in class participation ! It will DEFINATELY make a difference for your final grade.

15 Questions Re: Political Parties
Questions regarding Political Parties ??? Do political parties matter to voters and policymaking? Healthy and competitive organizations? Still, the central organizing instrument of government? Still, contributing to democratic politics? Any other questions?

16 Political Parties Two definitions stand in contrast! (Burke vs. Downs)
Burke (18th century) -- A body of people united for promoting by their joint endeavors the national interest, upon some particular principle in which they are all agreed. (focusing on policy and principle) Downs (20th century) -- a team of people seeking to control the governing apparatus (정부조직) by gaining office in a duly constituted election. (winning elections)
