1 “Grammar to Explain” 유사 관계대명사(as, but, than)는 본래 관계대명사가 아닌데도 관계대명사와 같은 역할을 한다. 1. as : as, such, the same 다음에 쓰이거나, 앞문장 전체를 받는 which 역할 (a) As many boys as studied hard were praised. 열심히 공부한 소년은 모두 칭찬을 받았다. 주격(선행사는 many boys이며 studied의 주어) (b) Choose such books as will benefit you. 네게 도움될 (그런) 책들을 골라라. 주격(선행사는 books이며 will benefit의 주어) (c) This is the same watch as I lost yesterday. 이것은 내가 어제 잃어버린 것과 같은 종류의 시계이다. 목적격(선행사는 watch이며 lost의 목적어) cf> This is the same watch that I lost yesterday. 이것은 내가 어제 잃어버린 바로 그 시계이다. (=the very watch that…) (d) She came here on time, as (=which) was often the case with her. 그녀는 정각에 여기왔었는데, 그녀는 보통 그랬었다. 2. but : that ∼ not의 의미 There are none of those soldiers but love their fatherland. (=that do not love) 그 군인들 중에는 그들의 조국을 사랑하지 않는 이들은 없다. 3. than : 선행사를 비교급이 수식하는 경우 (a) There are more books than are needed. 필요 이상의 책들이 있다. 주격(선행사는 books이며 are의 주어) (b) Tom has more money than he needs. 탐은 필요 이상의 돈을 가지고 있다. 목적격(선행사는 money이며 needs의 목적어)
