한 어린 사내아이가 엄마에게 묻는다 A little boy asks his mother: ‘왜 ‘왜 울어요 ?’ ‘Why do you cry ?’ ‘난 ‘난 여자니까 ’ 라고 그녀는 답한다. ‘Because I am a woman’ she answers. ‘ 이해 안되네요 ’ 그는 말한다. ‘I don’t understand’ he says. 그를 껴안고 엄마는 그에게 말한다. ‘ 그래 넌 결코 이해 못 할 거야.’ His mother hugs him and says : ‘and you never will’

후에 그 어린아이는 아버지에게 물었다. Later the little boy asked his father : ‘ 엄마는 왜 울어요 ?’ ‘Why does mommy cry’ ? ‘ 여자들은 다들 이유없이 운단다 ’, 가 그의 아버지가 그에게 해줄 수 있는 답의 전부다. ‘All women cry for no reason’, is all that his father could answer him.

그가 성인이 된후에 그는 하나님에게 물었다. When he became an adult he asked God : ‘ 하나님, 왜 여자들은 잘 웁니까 ?’ ‘God, why do women cry so easily?’

하나님이 답하기를: And God Answered : 내가 여자를 만들때 여자를 특별하게 만들 필요가 있었단다 ’ ‘When I created woman, she needed to be special. 나는 그녀의 어깨를 만들때 그 어깨가 세상의 짐을 다 질 수 있도록 강하지만 I created her shoulders strong enough to bear the weight of the world… 그 어깨가 또한 기대기에 편하도록 부드럽게 만들어야 했다. And soft enough to be comfortable’.

‘ 나는 그녀가 생명을 줄 수 있는 힘을 주었다. I gave her the strength to give life, 애들에게서 종종 받게 되는 묵살을 받아 낼 수 있는 그런 힘을.. The kind that accepts the rejection that often comes from children.’

‘ 다들 포기할 때도 계속 노력할 수 있는 그런 힘을 그녀에게 나는 부여했다. I gave her the strength to allow her to go on when everybody else give up. 병이나 피로도 마다하고 가족을 돌보는 그런 힘 말이다. The kind that takes care of her family, despite illness and fatigue.’

‘ 나는 그녀가 그녀의 애들을 무조건 사랑할 수 있는 감수성도 주었다. I gave her the sensitivity to love her children unconditionally, ‘ 애들이 그녀의 마음을 심히 아프게 해도래도 Even when they have hurt her deeply.’

‘ 나는 그녀에게 그녀의 남편이 실수 할 때에도 그를 감수할수 있는 힘을 주었다 ; I gave her the strength to endure her husband in his faults 그럴 때도 약해지지 않고 그의 옆에 남아 있을 그런 힘을 말이다. And to stay at his side without weakening’

’ 그리고 끝으로, 울고 싶을 때 언제고 눈물을 흘릴수 있는 눈물을 주었다. And finally, I gave her tears to shed whenever she needs them to be shed.’

‘ 알 겠냐 아들아, 여자의 아름다움은 그녀가 입는 옷에 있는 것도 아니고 그녀의 얼굴이나 그녀가 머리칼을 여하히 다듬냐에 있지 않다 You see my son, the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, nor is it in her face or in the way she does her hair.’

여자의 아름다움은 그녀의 눈 안에 있다. The beauty of a woman resides in her eyes. 그것은 그녀의 마음의 문이지. It is the door to her heart ; 그녀의 사랑이 거하는 곳의 문이다. the door where Love resides.

‘ 종종 그녀의 눈물로 해서 그녀의 마음이 어떤가 알수 있으렸다. And it is often through her tears that you see her heart go by.’
