I fondly ask; but Patience to prevent That murmur, soon replies, "God doth not need Either man's work or his own gifts; who best Bear his mild yoke, they serve him best. His state Is kingly. Thousands at his bidding speed And post o'er land and ocean without rest: They also serve who only stand and wait."

9 Matthew 25: 14-30 'The Parable of the Talents‘ - 주인이 여행을 떠나기 전 하인들을 불러 모았다. 첫 번째 하인에게는 5 개의 재능 ( 돈 ) 을, 두 번째 하인에게는 2 개의 재 능 ( 돈 ) 을, 마지막 하인에게는 1 개의 재능 ( 돈 ) 을 주었다. 5 개 를 받은 하인은 그것을 두 배로 늘려 10 개로 만들었고 2 개 를 받은 하인도 2 개의 재능 ( 돈을 ) 더 만들었다. 그러나 마지 막으로 단 개의 재능 ( 돈 ) 만을 받았던 하인은 그것을 땅에 묻 어 숨겨버렸다. 돌아온 주인은 앞선 두 하인들을 칭찬했다. 그러나 돈을 숨긴 하인에게 화를 냈다. 재능 ( 돈 ) 을 유용하게 써서 은행의 이자를 받을 지는 못할 망정, 아무런 소용도 없 게 만든 하인은 단 한개의 재능 ( 돈 ) 조차 받을 자격이 없다. 그 재능을 첫 번째 하인에게 주어야 한다.

10 Matthew 20: 1-16 'Labors in the Vineyard‘ 포도밭의 일꾼들 - 신이 천국에 있는 포도밭에서 일할 일꾼들을 모집했다. 그는 아침 일찍 시장에 나가 하루 1 데나리우스를 주기로 하고 일꾼 들을 포도밭으로 보냈다. 그리고 3 시간 후 즈음 또다른 할 일 없 는 사람들을 보고 또다시 포도밭으로 보내 일을 시켰다. 그리고 길을 나선지 6 시간, 9 시간 째에 똑같이 했다. 저녁이 되어 신은 일꾼들을 불러모아 처음 일했던 사람부터 11 시간째부터 일한 사람까지 모두 똑같이 1 데나리우스씩 주었다. 그러지 누군가 화를 내며 ' 가장 마지막에 온 사람들은 1 시간을 일했고 난 땡볕 에서 하루종일 일했는데 어찌 똑같은 금액을 주십니까 ?' 하고 말했다. 그러자 신이 말했다. ' 당신은 내게 1 데나리우스를 받기 로 합의하지 않았습니까 ? 나는 그저 모든 사람에게 똑같은 금 액을 주고자 함입니다. 이것은 나의 선택입니다."
