3 The Nature of the Problem (문제의 핵심)
하나님은 전능하시다. God is all-powerful. 하나님께는 악이 조금도 없으시다.      God is perfectly good. 그렇다면 왜 악이 존재하는가? Then, how can evil exist?

4 David Hume (148) “Is he willing to prevent evil, but not able? then is he impotent.  Is he able, but not willing? then is he malevolent.  Is he both able and willing: whence then is evil?” 악을 예방할 의사가 있는 데도 할 수 없다면 전능한 하나님이 아니다. 할 수 있는데도 할 의사가 없는 하나님이라면 그는 악한 존재이다. 만일 하나님이 악을 예방할 수도 있었고 할 의사도 있었다면, 그렇다면 악은 어디서 왔단 말인가?

인간의 도덕적 선택과 관계 없이 일어나는 자연재해 Moral Evil 도덕적인 악 즉 범죄 인간의 죄성과 죄악으로 인하여 발생하는 악한 일들.

6 Types of Solutions 악의 문제의 대한 해결책들
(1) Finitism (유한론) : 하나님도 어쩔 수 없는 문제가 있다. Abandonment of God's omnipotence (전능하신 하나님의 개념 유실) (2) Modification of the Concept of God's Goodness (선하신 하나님의 개념 수정) (3) Denial of the reality of Evil: Christian Science. 악의 존재 자체를 부정.

(2) A Re-evaluation of What Constitutes Good and Evil 무엇이 악이냐에 대한 재평가가 필요하다. (3) Evil in General as the Result of Sin in General 모든 사람이 죄를 범하였기에 악이 존재한다. (4) Specific Evil as the Result of Specific Sins. 특정인의 범죄로 인한 특정악도 존재한다. (5) God as the Victim of Evil 하나님도 악의 피해자이다. (6) The Life Hereafter 심판이 있다.
