3 SIX DISCIPLINES OF CREDIBILITY (Kouzes & Posner 1993, 58-246)
1. Discovering yourself. 너 자신부터 파악하라 2. Appreciating constituents. Congregation, family…. 섬길 대상 파악 3. Affirming shared values. 공동가치관을 인정 4. Developing capacity. 능력개발 5. Serving a purpose. 목적있는 인생/사역 6. Sustaining a hope. 소망을 불어넣어야

4 Credibility It is “about how leaders earn the trust and confidence of their constituents. It is about what people demand of their leaders and the actions leaders must take in order to intensify their constituents’ commitment to a common cause.” (Kouzes & Posner 1993, xvii)

5 CONSTITUENT It means “a someone who has an active part in the process of running an organization and who authorizes another to act on his or her behalf. A constituent confers authority on the leader, not the other way around. Constituents can be employees, but they can also be customers, shareholders, suppliers, other business partners, and citizens.” (Kouzes & Posner 1993, xix)

8 Appreciating Constituents (88-118)
1. Be accessible – even at home. 문호개방 2. Listen everywhere and listen well. 들을 귀 3. Learn your constituents’ stories. 섬길 대상의 이야기 4. Step outside your cultural experience. 당신의 사고의 울타리를 벗어나라 5. Keep in touch. 항상 접촉하라

7. Hold a regular forum with key constituencies. 주요 인물들과 대화할 기회를 주기적으로 만들라. 8. Ante up first. 상대를 먼저 신뢰하라 9. Know what “bugs” your constituents. 직원들이 가장 싫어하는 것이 무엇인지 감을 잡으라 10. Practice small wins. 성장목표를 잘게 쪼개어 천리길도 한걸음씩 가듯이 할당하라.

10 Affirm Shared Values (149-52)
1. Get together to start drafting your group’s credo. 함께 그룹의 신조를 기초하라 2. Make sure there is agreement around values. 가치관에 서로 동의하는지 확인하라 3. Conduct a values survey. 가치관에 관한 조사를 선행하라 4. Connect values with reasons. 가치관과 이성을 연결하라

11 5. Structure cooperative goals. 공동목표를 짜라
6. Make sure that everyone knows the business. 전원에게 내용을 숙지시켜라 7. Be an enthusiastic spokesperson for shared values. 너부터 일단 동의한 가치관의 열렬한 대변자가 되라. 8. Accumulate yeses. 서로 예스할 기회를 많이 만들라 9. Go slow to go fast. 서두르지 마라 10. Establish a sunset statute for your credo. 어떤 가치관도 영원하지는 않다. 일정기간이 지나면 가치관을 재고하는 규정을 만들라.

12 Developing Capacity (176-82)
Stop making decisions. 혼자 결정하지 말라 Stop talking at staff meetings. 제발 입 다물어라 Set up coaching opportunities. 코칭기회를 조성하라 Invite people to assume responsibility. 책임을 지게 하라 Give everyone a customer. 바보로 만들지 말라. 보람있는 일거리를 주라 Have an open house. 네 집을 열어라

13 Share the big picture. 큰 그림을 보여주라
Enrich people’s jobs. 일을 즐길 수 있는 풍토를 조성하라 Let constituents be the teachers. 저들에게게서 배우라 Use modeling to develop competencies. 유능한 것이 무엇인지 보여주라

14 Serving a Purpose (209-17) Manage by storytelling. 명령이 아니라 꿈을 심어라
Create heroes. 영웅을 생산하라 Speak with confidence. 확신을 가지고 말하라 Reduce fear. 두려움을 줄이라 Ask questions. 좋은 질문을 던지라 Hold yourself accountable. 책임을 지라 Keep score. 점수를 매기라 Conduct a personal audit. 스스로 자신평가 Conduct an organizational audit. 조직평가 Get everyone to champion values. 가치관을 전염시켜라

15 Sustaining Hope (240-246) Exercise. 심신단련
Write your vision of the future. 비전확립 Set goals and make a plan. 목표의식과 계획성 Choose flexible optimism. 유연한 낙관주의 Suffer first. 비전에는 댓가가 있다 Nurture optimism and passion. 낙관주의와 열정고취 Go visiting. 심방 Dispute your negative beliefs. 부정적 사고와 투쟁. Re-clarify your values. 가치관을 재확립
