- SKKU Half-year meeting at 14.Aug.2014 - 개 요 LHC(Large Hadron Collider)는 2012-2013년 LS1(Long Shutdown) 기간 동안 CMS Experiment에 대하여 다양한 upgrade 프로그램을 기획하였다. 그 중에서 CMS는 LS1 기간 동안 Endcap 4-layer 부분을 추가 건설하여 CMS Level-1 trigger efficiency를 향상시키고 최종 Technical Design Report(TDR)를 완성한다. 4-Layer 건설을 위해 총 144개의 chamber가 CERN, BARC(India), GHENT(Belgium)의 3 Site에서 제작된다. Korea-CMS는 총 10개를 담당하여 CERN에서 제작 및 시험하여 납품한다. - SKKU Half-year meeting at 14.Aug.2014 -
- SKKU Half-year meeting at 14.Aug.2014 - CMS RPC Upgrade at LS1 CMS는 향후 Beam Energy와 Luminosity의 증가에 따른 검출기의 성능 향상을 위해 Endcap 부위에 RPC를 추가 건설한다. LS1 기간 동안 RE4/2 & RE4/3 부분에 총 144개에 해당하는 2개의 DISK를 제작하여 설치한다.( 1 Disk – 72개 Chamber ) 4–Layer를 건설함에 따라 최종 TDR을 완성한다. 추가 건설 부분 η=1.2 4-Layer 건설에 따라 앞으로 η < 1.6 부분에 해당하는 TDR의 전체 layout을 완벽하게 보완한다. KOREA CMS RPC Construction Frame 준비 Gap 준비 Copper-Sheet Bottom Gap 완 료 ! KOREA-CMS RPC Quality Test Gap Leak & Dark current Test - Gap 내부에는 Ionization을 위해 Gas mixture (95.2% C2H2F4, 4.5% iC2H10, 0.3% SF6)를 주입한다. 따라서 Gap의 Gas Leak Test를 진행하여 Quality를 확인한다. - Leak Test를 합격한 Gap에 10kV의 전압을 입력하여 약 3일간 Dark current를 측정한다. - Leak test standard : Up to 0.5 mbar / Dark current standard : Up to 0.5 μA 10 kV Leak Test Spacer Test 압력 변화 확인 압력 변화 확인 0.5μA < Leak & Spacer Test graph > < Dark current Test graph > - SKKU Half-year meeting at 14.Aug.2014 -
KOREA-CMS RPC Quality Test Cosmic-ray Test - Cosmic-ray를 이용하여 신호를 처리해주는 FEBs 및 Signal cable, Strip channel, Efficiency를 약 4일 동안 Chamber를 사용하는데 문제가 없는지 최종 점검을 한다. 만일 문제가 확인되면 해당 부위의 제품에 대한 교체 및 수리 작업을 진행한다. - 아래 그림은 각 Strip channel의 event 결과로 채널 15번의 이상을 확인 할 수 있다. KOREA-CMS RPC Quality Test Cosmic-ray Test Efficiency graph - Efficiency test는 Chamber의 3 part로 나뉘어 진행한다. - 맨 위와 아래에 놓여진 PMT가 Trigger 역할을 수행하며 Muon으로 발생하는 Chamber의 전기적 신호를 수집 및 필터링하여 최종적으로 Data가 Server에 저장된다.
