Lesson 4 Life’s Precious Moments 도치구문 It ~ that 강조구문

2 The girl and her pet dog ran in the park.
1) 부사어를 강조하기 위한 도치 부사(구)나 보어가 강조되어 앞에 나올 때, 동사가 주어 앞에 오는 도치가 일어난다. The girl and her pet dog ran in the park. → In the park ran the girl and her pet dog. 동사 강조하는 말

3 A. 도치구문 2) 부정어를 강조하기 위한 도치 부정어(never, not, little, hardly 등)를 포함한 어구, 그리고 부정에 가까운 의미를 갖는 only가 강조되어 앞에 나올 때, 동사가 주어 앞에 위치하는 도치가 일어난다. 동사가 일반동사인 경우 do[does, did]가 대신 앞으로 나가 <부정어구+조동사(do, does, did)+주어+동사원형>의 순서가 된다.

2) 부정어를 강조하기 위한 도치 - 예문 We have never seen such a good cook. ➩ Never have we seen such a good cook. I little dreamed that such a bad thing would happen to me. ➩ Little did I dream that such a bad thing would happen to me. 강조 동사

5 B. It ~ that 강조구문 ‘…한 것은 바로 ~이다[이었다]’의 의미로 강조하고 싶은 말을 It is[was]와 that 사이에 둔다. • I got a letter from him last weekend. → It was a letter that[which] I got from him last weekend. (a letter 강조) → It was him that[whom] I got a letter from last weekend. (him 강조) → It was last weekend that[when] I got a letter from him. (last weekend 강조)

6 B. It ~ that 강조구문 가주어, 진주어 It ~ that vs. 강조구문 강조구문은 it is[was]와 that을 제외한 나머지로 하나의 완전한 문장을 만들 수 있으나, 가주어, 진주어로 쓰인 It ~ that 구문은 그렇지 않다. It is important that you keep the promise. (it: 가주어, that절: 진주어) ← You keep the promise is important. (불완전한 문장)

7 B. It ~ that 강조구문 의문사가 들어간 It ~ that 강조구문 의문사가 들어간 It ~ that 강조구문은 <의문사 + is[was] + it that ~>의 형태로 강조한다. Who damaged my car? → Who was it that damaged my car? (의문문을 만들기 위해 의문사를 앞으로 꺼내면서 주어와 동사의 어순이 도치됨)
