This discussion between Turing, Newman, R.B. Braithwaite, G. Jefferson was recorded on the 10th January 1952 and broadcast on BBC Radio on the 14th, and again on the 23rd, of that month. This is the earliest known recorded discussion of artificial intelligence.

어떤 조건을 갖추어야 기계가 생각한다고 말할 수 있을까?
그리고 기계는 그러한 조건을 갖출 수 있을까? 현재(당시)의 기계는 그 조건에 얼마나 가까운가?

Turing Test ‘생각하는 기계’의 조건 이러한 기계가 가능할 것인가? 학습을 통한 진보가 가능한가?
경험 일반을 통한 학습이 가능하려면 ‘Spring of action’이 필요하다. 새로운 개념의 형성이 가능한가? 유비적 사고가 가능한가? 인간의 사고과정은 주변환경의 영향을 받는다. 공포, 불안 등… 이러한 기계가 가능할 것인가?

현재의 기계는 ‘생각하는 기계’와 거리가 멀다.

But it is not, surely, just a question of size.” 기계가 생각하기 시작하는 시점? Newman’s Test 기계가 사람이 수학문제를 푸는 방식으로 사람이 풀지 못한 수학문제를 풀어낼 수 있다면 기계는 생각하기 시작했다고 할 수 있다.
