목적어가 (인칭)대명사인 경우에는 동사와 부사 사이에 위치 시켜야 한다. 1. I put on my hat.=I put my hat on.=I put it on. I put on it.(X) (나는 나의 모자를 썼다.) 2. I took off my coat.=I took my coat off.=I took it off. (O) I took off it.(X) (나는 나의 코우트를 벗었다.) 3. He put out the fire.=He put the fire out.=He put it out. (그는 그 불을 껐다.) 4. Never give it up. (결코 그것을 포기하지 마시오.) 5. turn on it = 그것 위에서 회전하다 on = 전치사 turn it on = 그것(스위치 등)을 켰다. on = 부사(‘접촉’의 뜻)
