When a customer record in the Seibel system changes, the Seibel system is going to generate a business object (called something like ‘customer record change’). The Intelligent adapter is tied directly into the Seibel application, so when the Object is created by Seibel it automatically creates an event that initiates the the Intelligent Adapter. The Intelligent Adapter takes the object and turn it into a file that AI can translate (for example, XML) and then sends the object to the GXS Integration Broker. The Integration Broker then takes the file, makes 3 copies of the message. The first message can be sent directly to SAP in XML format. The intelligent adapter for SAP would then convert the file into a BAPI (business object for SAP) and submit it into the SAP system. The second message would be translated inside the Integration Broker into a flat file format that the Legacy Billing System can read. It would then be sent through the MQ Series Adapter to the Legacy Billing System. The third message could either be translated into the format required by the Legacy Warehouse System within the Integration Broker, or as in this diagram, the ADK kit could be used to develop a custom adapter that would reside on the Legacy Warehouse system (could be FTP, HTTP, or any other format available through the GXS Integration Brokers). As you can see, an EAI sale can add up very quickly!
