Talk with handsome Daniel! 만일 당신이 매일 30분 동안 힘차게 걷는다면 당신은 많은 만성질환발병을 40%까지 줄일 수 있을 것입니다. If you walked briskly / for 30 minutes a day, / you could cut the incidence of many chronic diseases / by up to 40 percent.

Yet bears do not really hibernate. 2과 2번. When people think of hibernating animals, / they usually first think of bears. Bears remain inactive during winter, / and they may sleep / and do without food / for three months or more. Yet bears do not really hibernate. A characteristic of hibernation is / that the animal’s body temperature drops / to nearly that of its surroundings. This drastic temperature drop does not occur in bears, / nor do a bear’s heart rate and breathing rate decrease as greatly / as those of true hibernators.

2과 2번. As a result, / scientists prefer to call a bear’s winter state “dormancy” / rather than hibernation. If warm weather occurs / during a bear’s winter rest period, / it may awaken / and leave its den / for a while to feed. Two other animals that go into winter dormancy / are raccoons and skunks.

2과 4번. According to a study / done by the Center for Healthy Child Development, / small children, and even infants, are increasingly exposed to television / instead of playing or interacting with adults or other children. Parents are understandably concerned / about the potential effects / this early exposure has / on their children, / especially since television viewing has been linked / to violent or aggressive behavior, sleep problems, substance abuse, poor school performance, and obesity. However, results from the study suggests / that TV viewing isn’t all bad.

2과 4번. For instance, children (who viewed educational programs) increased(1) their general knowledge / and showed(2) greater tolerance levels / for other children. The study also found / that watching action shows or cartoons / tends to increase aggression levels / in those children / already deemed more aggressive than others. But in all cases, / having a parent present / during viewing / who commented on the content / seemed to increase the benefits.

2과 5번. Most of us see insects / as fearful or irritating creatures / that are responsible / for spreading(1) diseases / or attacking(2) our food supplies. Mosquitoes spread diseases / like malaria and filaria, / termites destroy wood, / locusts destroy entire fields of food crops, / and weevils eat into our grain supplies. However, did you know / that without insects / the world would probably be filled / with dead animals and plants?

2과 5번. For example, the dung beetle is responsible / for the breakdown of animal waste matter / and plays an important role / in cleaning up our environment. Bees and butterflies play an important role / in the pollination of plants. Flowering plants bloom / and food crops thrive / when insects are busy. Insects are also the source of useful products / like honey, lac, silk, and wax.

Guess What? A characteristic of hibernation is ( ) the animal’s body temperature drops to nearly that of its surroundings. This drastic temperature drop does not occur in bears, ( ) do a bear’s heart rate and breathing rate decrease as greatly as those of true hibernators. According to a study (doing/ done) by the Center for Healthy Child Development, small children, and even infants, are increasingly exposed to television ( ) ( ) playing or interacting with adults or other children.

As a result, / scientists prefer to call a bear’s winter state “dormancy” / rather than hibernation. 2. 하지만 그 연구에서 나온 결과는 티비 시청이 모두 나쁜 것은 아니라는 것을 보여준다.
